Bottle

Five days ago in the hospital...

Come on you can do it just a few more pushes and your baby is here said the doctor coaching and gripping the baby's head. Joe was rushed early to the hospital since his water broke. Now he was pushing for his life with his husband Lucas Kevin McKilligan or as Joe calls him Kevin by his side. You can do it just one more push and your baby is here said Doctor Lucille Hendersen.

Joe pushed one last time and took a deep breath as not to pass out. Lucille smiled and looked at Joe and Kevin. Congratulations it's a baby boy said Lucille and handed the baby over to Joe. Kevin looked at his newborn son. You did a good job said Kevin and pressed a soft kiss on Joe's sweat covered forehead. Thanks but he can't be nameless for the rest of his life said Joe and held his newborn baby boy in  his hand. After five minutes they came up with a name. How about Shane Adam Jonas said Joe and looked at his husband. Kevin nodded and kissed him.

Five  days later.....

Nick.” Joe  laughed a little, “You're doing fine.”

“Are you sure? I don't want to drop him.”

Joe  walked out of his and Kevin's room, wearing Kevin's slightly to big boxers. Joe raised his eyebrows at them. Joe looked down and groaned, but didn't bother changing them. He sat down next to Kevin, rubbing his temples, elbows on knees.

“Still have a headache?” Joe nodded, and Kevin kissed his cheek and rubbed circles on his back. They both looked over as their baby, Shane, started to cry.

Nick's face scrunched up in confusion, “What do I do?”

Joe  laughed softly, “Does his diaper need to be changed?”

“No.”

“Then he's probably hungry. Kevin, can yo-”

“Already on it. Stay, rest.”

“Thanks.” Kevin smiled at him.

Nick  continued to stare at Joe until Joe said something, “What is it, Nick?”

“Are you okay? How long have you had that headache? Why do you need rest?”

“I'm fine, Nick. Shane wouldn't sleep last night, that's how I got the headache, and mixed with about five hours of sleep, I still have it. And I need rest, cause if you hadn't noticed, I had a baby five days ago.” Joe looked at him, “Any other questions?” Joe snapped at him.

“No, it's just -”

“I'm sorry. I'm just tired, you know how I get.” Nick nodded as Kevin brought the bottle in. “You can feed him if you want Nick.”

“Really?!” Joe  nodded and Kevin showed him how. Joe watched as he feel back into the couch, completely tired even though he just woke up. After Nick had started feeding Shane with the bottle, Kevin turned his attention toward Joe.

“Are you okay?”

Joe nodded, eyes still closed, “I just have a huge headache, I'm tired, and I just want to cuddle with you in bed.”

Kevin glanced over to Nick, “Do you think he'll be ok?”

“For ten minutes? I don't know. Hey Nick?” Joe called, and Nick looked at him, “Can you handle him for the next ten minutes or so?”

“Depends on what's going to be going on in your bedroom.”

“We're just going to cuddle.”

“Yeah. I should be fine.”

“Just stop feeding him when the bottle's empty, or when he spits it out and won't take it again.”

“I've got it Joe.”

Joe smiled as Kevin pulled him of the couch and into his arms, carrying him to their bedroom, laying him on the bed before closing the door. Kevin crawled in next to him, wrapping his arms tightly around Joe's waist. Joe burrowed his face into Kevin's neck and inhaled, “You smell good.”

“I haven't showered today.” Kevin said, wondering how he could.

“I know. You smell like Kevin. And Kevin smells good.”

“I love you baby.”

“I love you too, Kev.” Joe said, almost half asleep.

Kevin leaned to whisper in Joe's ear, “You can take a short nap. Maybe it'll help with your headache.”

“Okay.” Joe mumbled, already mostly asleep.



When Joe woke again, he was alone. He rolled over and glanced at the clock. It was almost noon. He had been asleep for four hours. He groaned and got out of bed, changing Kevin's boxers for his own, and putting on a pair of pajama bottoms.

He walked out into the kitchen to see Nick and Kevin sitting there, talking, Shane's baby monitor on the table. Joe smiled and walked to Joe's room.

He opened the door and walked in, leaning over the crib to see he wasn't sleeping. “Hey, Shane.” Joe whispered as he held his baby in his arms. “You look so much like your daddy, although no one can't have his stunningly amazing looks.” He moved to sit in the rocker, rocking Shane.

Joe looked up as the door opened and Kevin walked in, “I thought you were sleeping.”

“And I thought we were going to cuddle for ten minutes.”

“I figure you needed your sleep.”

“Thanks. I don't have my headache anymore.” Kevin leaned down and kissed his forehead, taking a sleeping Andrew and placing him in his crib as there was a sound of many plastic things hitting the floor at once. Joe looked at Kevin, rolling his eyes, “I thought we only agreed on one kid for now.”

Kevin laughed as he pushed Joe out the door and into the kitchen. Nick was trying to pick up the baby bottles he had dropped, when he noticed Joe and Kevin staring at him, scaring him, making him drop them again, “Fuck.”

“Hey now.” Kevin said, wrapping his arms around Joe, “We have two kids in the house.”

“Two? I thought Shane was your only one.”

“No,” Joe said, “You're the second one.”

Kevin and Nick laughed, as Nick didn't find it very funny, “Haha. Help me pick these up, please?”

“Umm, how did you manage to drop the seven of them?” Kevin asked, not moving from his place behind Joe.

“I just did.”

Joe smiled at him, hearing the baby monitor going off, “I'm going to go check on child number one, wanna come with Kev?”

“Sure.”

“I hate you guys.”

“Love you too Nick!” They yelled, making there way to the nursery, holding hands.
